A former School Resource officer and police detective has been indicted on child sex crime charges. The U.S. Attorney's Office says 35 year old, Daniel Paul Shealy of Rock Hill is facing 19 total counts related to child sexual abuse material.

A Federal Grand Jury indictment says Shealy was a detective and certified law enforcement officer in South Carolina and was assigned as a resource officer at a public school in York County.

The indictment alleges that Shealy opened a social media account and used a department issued cell phone to distribute and receive files with images that depicted child sex abuse. The cell phone was reportedly found in his patrol car.

Each count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in federal prison. The case has been investigated by the FBI, State Attorney General's Office and the York County Sheriff's Office.
