Former 98.9 WORD Host & Netflix Series Star dies after cancer battle

An Upstate native who is known from starring in a Netflix Series and being former host here on 98.9 WORD has died. Rob "Rabbit" Pitts lost his battle with cancer Sunday.

He was filming the Netflix Series "Tex Mex Motors" back in March when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer. Pitts grew up in Greenville and attended Wade Hampton High School. He owned Rabbit's Used Cars in Seneca. "Rabbit" started his radio career on News/Talk 98.9 WORD with a weekend talk show called "Hot Rods and Happy Hour." The show was one of the station's most popular ON DEMAND shows. Listen to the library of episodes.

He posted a video on Youtube just prior to his passing that has over 1 million views, the link to that video is below. Rob Pitts was just 45 years old.
