Furman Football to honor fallen player throughout season

Furman football has announced that it will honor defensive lineman Bryce Stanfield during this season. Stanfield died in February of this year after collapsing during a football workout. His cause of death was determined as a pulmonary embolism.

This season Furman's helmets will have a decal in honor of Stanfield. The 21 year old had played in nearly 35 games in the last three seasons and had career sacks. Stanfield was a member of last year's Southern Conference Championship Team.

Furman opens the season at 6th ranked Ole Miss August 31st. They will then host Charleston Southern Sept. 7th. Hear every Furman game, all season long on The Fan Upstate.
