School and office buildings in the district will be closed, no athletic events or field trips will be held. The decision comes ahead of pending inclement weather including heavy rain, strong winds, and potential power outages are expected.

District Spokesman Tim Waller says, that numerous schools had intermittent power outages Thursday due to strong winds. Greenville County is an approved eLearning district so Friday will not have to be made up.

Other Upstate districts have followed suit, as Oconee, Pickens, Cherokee , Spartanburg District 7, and Laurens District 55 are all having eLearning days on Friday. Greenwood District 51 is on fall break.
