The largest city in the Upstate is facing a health crisis, according to a new study. The research firm Wallethub has released data that says, the Greenville-Anderson metro area is ranked 15th on the list of most obese metro areas in the United States.
Survey info from over 100 cities was compiled in the list. A myriad of factors were used to determine the rankings. The Greenville-Anderson area ranked 36th in percentage of obese adults, 19th for percentage of physically inactive adults, and 22nd in number of adults with high blood pressure.
Greenville-Anderson did not have the lowest ranking in the state, that distinction went to Columbia, which is ranked 10th. Other cities in the region that ranked worse than the Greenville-Anderson area included, Augusta at 13, Chattanooga is slotted at 6 and Knoxville which ranked 4th.
