A Groundbreaking is being held Tuesday Afternoon for a brand new elementary school in the Upstate. The Greenville County School District announced that they are breaking ground on the new Reedy Laurel Elementary School, which is set to be built on the old J.L. Mann High School campus.

The school is planned to hold up to 750 students, with 600 students set to be reassigned to the school when it opens. Another 300 students are also being reassigned within the district as part of the same reassignment plan the school board approved last week.

The opening is planned for the next school year, in August of 2025. It will initially welcome K5 through second grade students, with each school year seeing an additional grade level added up through fifth grade in 2028.
