A ceremonial $12 million check presentation was held at Unity Park Thursday in celebration of an upcoming 147 affordable senior housing units planned at Southernside Senior Living.
This expansion is the first of three affordable and workforce housing projects planned in the Greenville area through a funding partnership through the Greenville Housing Fund.
The $12 million comes through a loan from Truist Bank to the Greenville Housing Fund meant to accelerate the development of 549 affordable housing units at three separate Greenville affordable housing developments.
Mayor Knox White lauded the city’s investment in affordable housing, saying “Innovation, dedication and successful public-private partnerships will help us achieve our affordable housing goals.”
Ground is expected to be broken on all three projects within the next year.
