Former President Donald Trump is set to visit the Upstate, Independence weekend. He will hold a rally in Pickens Saturday July 1st and is expected to speak at 1 PM. Now the town of less than 4,000 people is preparing for the expected ground swell of people making their way there for the rally.

Area leaders like U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a known Trump ally and State House Majority Leader Davey Hiott of Pickens and others are expected to address the crowd at the event, prior to Trump's remarks.

The City Pickens has already taken measures in terms of preparation with parking for the event. the city has announced traffic closures that will begin at 7 PM Thursday. Portions of East Main Street will be closed alongside connected roads Lewis Street and Court Street.

Additional surrounding streets are expected to be closed starting Saturday morning as the weekend events actually begin. City officials also are warning attendees that the only point of entry will be the street in front of the East Main Street McDonalds.
