After being deployed to the Middle East, a soldier from the Upstate returned home, surprising her family. Army Master Sergeant Joan Keese returned home and visited her grandson at Plain Elementary School in Simpsonville, Wednesday.
The grandson's teacher pulled him from recess, blindfolded him and led him to the school's stage. When the curtain opened he saw his grandmother there dressed in fatigues and greeted her with a big hug.
Master Sergeant Keese then later went to Fountain Inn High School to visit one of her other grandsons.
