Lawn chairs and umbrellas lined the walls around the Simpsonville Activity and Senior Center alongside hundreds waiting in line to vote early on Thursday.
One voter said he hoped the storm weather forecasts would reduce the lines while others were voting today because it was their only day available before the election.
"A lot of the people that didn't vote back in 2016 will be out full force this year to go ahead and vote," said one voter waiting in line. "So we figured that's going to be terrible; if these lines are two and three hours long, I can imagine Tuesday how it's going to be, so I said let's do it now."
Those at the front of the line said they had been waiting for upwards of an hour and a half to two hours. One voter who had just finished voting said their wait time was somewhere between two and two and a half hours.
