The death of an inmate at an Upstate jail over the weekend has prompted an investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. SLED is looking into the death of 24 year old Christopher Johari James Benson. He was pronounced dead just before 5:30 Saturday morning at the Spartanburg County Jail.

An autopsy has been performed on Benson, the results are still pending. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office and the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office are also involved in the investigation.
