An investigation is ongoing after an inmate from North Carolina died at an Upstate jail, over the weekend. A woman was found hanging in her cell, Saturday at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Officers at the jail cut her down and called EMS immediately after finding her. The woman was pronounced dead the scene.
Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler has identified the woman as 50 year old, Angelica Marie Thayer of Shelby, North Carolina.
