UPDATE - January 26, 2024
Two people found dead in a Spartanburg apartment complex earlier this week have been identified.
Released Friday, the Spartanburg County Coroner identified the deceased as 40 year old Michael Antione Perry of New York and 43 year old Tomika Lynette Benjamin.
On Wednesday, Firefighters were called to The Grove Apartments on Warren Abernathy Highway for a possbile fire inside the building. That's when Perry and Benjamin were found deceased. Both suffered injuries caused by a fire according to the Coroner.
Further testing is needed before the Corner can release an official cause and manner of death. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the case.

An investigation is underway after two bodies were found at an Upstate apartment complex. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office responded to the Grove Apartments on Abernathy Highway, Wednesday afternoon.
The cause of the death for the two people have not yet been released. Details are limited at this time, but the Sheriff's Office does not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public.
