A judge has ordered a temporary stop to the enforcement to South Carolina's Fetal Heartbeat Bill. Circuit Judge Clifton Newman who gained notoriety after presiding over the double murder trial of Alex Murdaugh, issued his ruling Friday morning.

The decision comes just a day after Governor McMaster signed the bill into state law. The decision means for the time being the state will revert to the old statutes which allow abortion up to 20 weeks.

Judge Newman said " The status quo should be maintained until the Supreme Court reviews its decision".

Governor McMaster said " The fight is not over. We stand ready to defend this legislation against any challenges and are confident that we will succeed.”
