The phrase dumpster fire has become used to describe various mishaps in recent years. However, the improper disposal of fireworks led to a literal dumpster fire in one Upstate town, on Independence Day.
The Powdersville Fire Department responded to a business on Highway 153 around 4AM, Thursday morning. Upon arrival, firefighters found contents in the dumpster on fire. The blaze did not spread very much due to the dumpster being nearly empty.
Officials say fireworks containers were found in the dumpster and that was determined to have caused the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident and the building suffered minimal damage.
