Three-term Spartanburg Mayor Junie White announced on Thursday that he will not be running for re-election this November.
White said in a press release, "I am honored that the people of Spartanburg have given me the opportunity to serve as mayor for three terms, and I am proud of all the things we have been able to accomplish."
Mayor Junie White was first elected in November 2009 and then re-elected in both 2013 and 2017. Previously, White served one term as District 4 councilman.
White announced he was endorsing District 5 councilman Jerome Rice.
Filing for the Spartanburg mayoral race officially opens July 19th and closes the 13th of August. The election will take place on November 2nd.
