Jury Duty scams are getting pretty serious, and this is what the Greenville County Clerk of Court wants you to know...
A media release issued February 14, 2025 by Clerk of Court Jay Gresham, warns residents of the ongoing scam, where individuals deceive citizens via phone, email and letters, that states they have missed jury duty. The scammers falsely claim to be court officials or law enforcement and pressure citizens to pay money in order to avoid legal consequences.
The news release issued guidance, reminding citizens that official jury summonses for Circuit Court are sent exclusively by U.S. Mail. The Office does not call or email citizens regarding missed jury duty. Never provide personal information over the phone and don't send money in response to a call, email or letter.
If anyone is contacted by someone claiming you owe a fine for missing jury duty, hang up and call law enforcement.
