She was thrown from the boat driven by Paul Murdaugh when it crashed into a bridge piling returning from an all-night party in 2019. Paul Murdaugh was charged with boating-under-the-influence, his blood alcohol level three times the legal limit .

It was determined that Paul was using his older brother Buster's ID to buy the alcohol. The Beach family's attorney now confirms a closed door settlement awaiting court approval will release Buster Murdaugh and the estate of Maggie Murdaugh from the lawsuit.

More than half a million dollars will be distributed from claims against the Palmetto State Bank where Alex Murdaugh was once a very prominent customer.

Murdaugh's trial for the murders of his wife and younger son begins on January 23rd.
