The Laurens County Sheriff's Office is reporting Deputy Motes underwent surgery to remove the brain tumor and it went well.

The community is being called upon to rally behind a Laurens County Sheriff's Office Deputy who is fighting a myriad of health issues.

On January 19th, Deputy Christopher Motes suffered a seizure. An MRI showed a brain tumor. Motes is also challenged with kidney cancer which has metastasized to his lungs and his brain according to the Laurens County Sheriff's Office Facebook Page.

He will be out of work for an extensive amount of time, as well as his wife Tabitha. She too works for the Sheriff's Office Animal Control Division.

A FundTheFirst fundraiser has been set up for Deputy Motes and his family, the goal is to raise $20,000. Monetary donations can also be mailed or dropped off at the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.
