Officials in one Upstate County are proposing that power lines be buried underground after the impact of Hurricane Helene. District 3 Councilman David Britt is leading the charge for the move.
Britt says it would strengthen the power grid, but the cost is an obstacle. Mayor Jerome Rice is supporting the move and says utility workers have been assessing the benefits of the move.
As of right now, they are evaluating what neighborhoods would benefit the most from it. Officials have not released what the project would cost. Britt says he hopes officials with form a task force to address power grid needs.
