A guilty verdict resulting in a life sentence has been handed down following the sexual assault of a University of South Carolina student, two years ago. 41 year old, Robert Drayton was found guilty of sexual assault in a Columbia courtroom, late last week.
The 5th Circuit Solicitor's Office says, Drayton broke into the woman's apartment around 4AM, the morning of April 28th of 2021. Court records show that Drayton randomly attacked the woman and the two didn't know each other previously.
Drayton broke the woman's nose and strangled her prior to sexually assaulting her. He was given a life sentence following the conviction.
