Lightning from thunderstorms early Monday morning damaged a runway at the upstate's busiest airport. GSP officials reported around 6 AM Monday, that the runway had been closed.
The News/Talk 98. 9 WORD News Department received an email from a GSP Spokesperson this which said, "Due to a lightning strike, the runway was closed this morning while the pavement was repaired".
The runway reopened at approximately 6:45 am. We are back to scheduled operations. Travelers are encouraged to check with their airline for updated flight information.
