Ill-treatment of animals will land you in jail in Anderson County....

On Saturday, July 20, 2024, Deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office performed a welfare check at home on Old Williamston road. The visit uncovered a despicable living situation for 26 dogs.

Officials said the small breed canines, mostly Shih-Tzu's, were locked in cages and "living in filth"  Animal Control reported several dogs needed medical attention and were living on urine-soaked carpets.

On Monday, 46-year-old Dessie Kight and 61-year-old Christian Voitle were booked into the Anderson County Detention Center.

The dogs were transported to Anderson County P.A.W.S for evaluation.
