An investigation is ongoing and a suspect is injured following an officer involved shooting in the Low Country, over the weekend.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at Sonny's Convenience Store in Summerville, just after 11:30 Saturday night. Upon arrival, deputies found a broken window and a suspect inside the store.
Minutes later deputies told dispatch that shots had been fired. The suspect, who has not yet been identified suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
No injuries were reported for the two deputies that responded. SLED is investigating which is standard protocol in officer involved shootings, statewide. Both deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.
