A ceremony was held in the Upstate Monday to honor and remember fallen veterans as part of the observance of Memorial Day. Local veterans and many others gathered at Duncan Park in Spartanburg on Monday afternoon.
It was a ceremony filled with tributes, as the walls of Duncan Park display the names of fallen heroes. An empty chair sat front and center at the ceremony to represent those who have given their lives to protecting American freedoms.
A wreath laying ceremony was also held as part of the day of reflection. Officials in Spartanburg County say, they hope the ceremony is a tradition that will continue for generations to come.
