A variety of events are set for this Memorial Weekend around the Upstate.
The weekend kicks off with the Palmetto Heroes Hike Saturday morning, an annual event meant to honor fallen first responders and military servicemen and to raise donations for local nonprofits.
In Simpsonville, a Memorial Day Ceremony is set for 11am Monday at the Simpsonville Arts Center featuring a speaker from the SC State Guard.
Meanwhile, a Memorial Day Ceremony is also being held at 11:30am on Monday at the Duncan Park Veteran Memorial site.
And Anderson’s Memorial Day ceremony is set for 10am on Monday at the Pendleton Veteran Park.
Other local towns are also hosting their own ceremonies, including the City of Mauldin at 11am at the Mauldin Veterans Memorial off Butler Road on Monday.
And Clemson University is also hosting a Memorial Day Ceremony at 4pm Sunday at the Scroll of Honor Plaza on the school’s campus which will feature a guest speaker veteran Joshua Ayers.
