Mexican National dies after drowning in Upstate lake

The man who died after he was pulled from the waters of an Upstate lake over the weekend, has been identified. Oconee County Emergnecy Services responded Saturday to Lake Jocassee near Salem.

Bystanders had pulled a man's body from the water. Life saving measures were attempted, the man was transported to Greenville Memorial, where he later died.

The victim has been identified as 30 year old, Gustavo Ivan Hernandez-Cardenas of Mexico. He was said to have been in the Upstate to train at the BMW Plant in Spartanburg County.

Hernandez-Cardenas and his friends had made a daytrip to Lake Jocassee, Saturday. His death has been rules as an accidental drowning.
