A Midlands man is facing charges after he allegedly took over $80,000 from the Union Housing Authority. The Union County Sheriff's Office was contacted last month after it discovered unauthorized debits of nearly 84 grand were made.

Truist Bank turned over records that showed that $77,000 dollars was taken from the housing authorities account and was transferred to a credit line for James Edwin Corley Jr. of West Columbia.

Corley was arrested Tuesday and is being held in Union County awaiting a bond hearing.
