While details are still limited, more information has come out after officers exchanged gunfire with suspects in Gaffney, over the weekend.
As we previously reported, the Gaffney Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on West Birnie Street around 2AM, Sunday.
Assistant Police Chief Jerry Smith has released a statement saying that the shots were fired behind the Konjo Lounge nightclub. Smith says a crowd of about 75-100 people were running around the area after the shots were fired.
Officers arrived and found multiple suspects were shooting at each other. When the suspects were ordered to drop their weapons and refused, officers then returned fire and the suspects fled on foot.
Smith says that nobody was seriously injured in the shooting, but he could not comment further on injuries from the incident.
No arrests have been announced, SLED is investigating the incident, which is standard practice in officer involved shootings, statewide.
The incident remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
