
The sad report of an autistic boy's death from a drug overdose has gotten even worse. Greenville County Investigators say he was imitating his suicidal mother.
The case goes back to a call from managers of the Intown Suites on Mauldin Road in November of last year. An employee sent to 39 year old Sonja Larae Campbell's room to evict her discovered the body of her autistic son instead.
The autopsy found that fourteen-year-old Landon Poston had died of what the coroner called a "massive amount" of OxyCodone. He had been dead for a week.
Greenville County Sheriff's investigators say he and his mother were living at the motel when she took the drug in a failed suicide attempt. The youngster also took the pills apparently believing that what he should do.
Campbell who had fled before his death, was discovered was arrested Wednesday morning. She is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center charged with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child.
