Alex Murdaugh's defense team will call its first witnesses Tuesday. The prosecution rested its case Friday after posing new challenges to the accused double-murderer's credibility.
A computer analyst testified newly discovered data from GM's OnStar system revealed movements of Murdaugh's Suburban in synch with the prosecution's timeline for the killings. That includes the visit to his ailing mothe which his defense had called a "rock solid alibi."
The vehicle's onboard computer indicates Murdaugh spent barely more than twenty minutes at her home, a twenty-minute drive from the crime scene, and showed reduced speed in the area where Maggie Murdaugh's cell phone had been found on the roadside.
It was also determined the time between his arrival back at the estate and his call to report finding the bodies was just twenty seconds. Murdaugh and his surviving son Buster are both on the defense witness list, but whether he himself will take the stand is no longer certain.
