A former legal partner and friend of Alex Murdaugh testified in his trial, Wednesday. Mark Ball took the stand and testified about being at the crime scene following the shooting deaths of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh. Ball was called to the stand by Murdaugh's defense team.
He was also at the scene the following morning and testified that shotgun pellets were found in the feed room where Paul was killed. He also said he found what he believed to be part of Paul's skull on the ground.
During their cross examination the prosecution asked Ball about the financial crimes Murdaugh has been accused of. He talked about the firm's investigation into Murdaugh's theft from them and their clients. Ball said " Had I known about the things he was doing we wouldn’t have been law partners.” Ball also said that he believed it was Alex Murdaugh's voice on a video that Paul shot, just prior to the murders.
Murdaugh's defense team said Wednesday that they are considering putting Alex on the stand to testify in his own defense. If that were to happen it would be during court Thursday.
