A Western North Carolina man is facing charges after a woman was beaten to death inside a vehicle there. The Asheville Police Department responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on I-26 near exit 33 just before 3:30 AM, Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman in the passenger seat who had been assaulted. The police department says the woman, 50 year old Carly Elizabeth Johnson died from her injuries.
The driver, 41 year old Kenneth Lontrell Christian, was then taken into custody. He's charged with 1st degree murder and is being held without bond in Buncombe County.
