Is it the case of a loving father protecting his daughter from her abuser or that of a vengeful man out for blood? That's the question as the murder trial for a Spartanburg man accused of killing his daughter's boyfriend has gotten underway.
Investigators say Kenneth Lewis shot and killed Lorn Kyle Wofford in November of 2020. Police responded to a reported shooting at Lewis' home and found the daughter's boyfriend lying in the yard after being shot.
Lewis reportedly told Investigators that he felt Wofford had burned his daughter. Just weeks prior to the shooting, Terry Lewis has been hospitalized at the Augusta Burn Center. She later testified that Wofford did abuse her and shot her up with meth in her sleep. However, she claimed she did not recall how she was set on fire.
Kenneth Lewis said that Wofford had showed up to his house the night of the incident armed with a machete. Lewis reportedly admitted to shooting Wofford to end the abuse his daughter had been suffering.
Jury selection was completed and pre-trial proceedings began Monday. Opening statements in the trial were made Tuesday morning.
