More challenges for Alex Murdaugh's defense, as the Colleton County judge allows an item showing gunshot residue into evidence and testimony from people who say the disgraced lawyer is a con artist.

That blue rain slicker a caretaker says Murdaugh stuffed into a closet at his parents' house three days after the murders of his wife and son is now an item of prosecution evidence.

Judge Clifton Newman overruled defense objections and also allowed a SLED crime lab technician to testify  particles of gunshot residue were found on the garment. His decision to allow testimony about Murdaugh's white collar criminal indictments brought the chief financial officer of his former law firm to the stand.

Jeannie Seckenger told the jury Alex Murdaugh stole five million dollars from the firm in ten years of what she says was more about leveraging relationships than legal ability. She and the SLED technician are set to face cross examination, Wednesday.
