New housing will open this Friday in Cherokee County... but to get in, you must have four legs and fur.

A ribbon cutting for the new Cherokee County Animal Shelter will be held this Friday, April 19th, at 2pm in Gaffney. The $4.7 million, 13,000+ -square-foot facility is the result of years of efforts, 5 years to be exact, and is a HUGE upgrade over the previous shelter.

This new facility will be able to house 164 dogs and 70 cats and will include 10 adoption kennels for the Humane Society of Cherokee County. A pet food drive will also be going on during the ribbon cutting, so if you can, drop off some wet and dry food for cats and dogs.

The address is 163 Progressive Drive in Gaffney.
