The project began after the The Appalachian Regional Commission awarded a five hundred thousand dollar grant to the project. The City Of Simpsonville then awarded a 1.7 million dollar contract for work to be done to refurbish the building. The city also appropriated over four hundred thousand dollars towards upgrades to the facility. A total of 3 million dollars have been invested in the project. The venue is set to serve as the 2nd home of the Mill Town Players who will open their performance schedule there this summer.
