One of Oconee County's most infamous criminals is facing charges again, this time for armed robbery. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says, 60 year old Kevin Wayne Maler is charged with armed robbery and weapons violations.
Maler has been arrested on felony charges numerous times in recent years. He was at one time charged with the murder of a victim named Kevin Craig. The murder charge was dropped after prosecutors said there wasn't sufficient evidence to get a conviction.
Investigators say Maler and 44 year old Joe Navarro III both robbed a victim at the boat ramp at Poor Farm Lake last Thursday. Navarro has also been charged in the incident. He also faces unrelated felony drug charges after a traffic stop Monday when he was taken into custody.
The Sheriff's Office says the two got just 80 dollars and a baseball cap during the robbery.
