An Upstate man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a family member in the face. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says, 24 year old Justin Jacob Engle of Seneca is charged with attempted murder following the incident. Deputies responded to a home on Waters Edge Road Wednesday.
Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators say, Engle stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife in an attempt to kill them.
Engle reportedly left the scene in the victim's vehicle , prior to deputies arriving. He was later taken into custody after a traffic stop, he faces an additional charge of driving under suspension.
Engle was treated at an area hospital for injuries to his hand that happened during the stabbing. He was then booked into the Oconee County Detention Center. The Sheriff's Office says, Engle is related to the victim but they did not elaborate on how the two are related.
