An Oconee County man is in custody after being accused of killing a Seneca woman, earlier this month. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office says the investigation began December 15th, when they were called to a home on North Lake Drive in Salem for a welfare check.
Deputies had been told that 35 year old, Dustin Wayne Turpin had made comments about killing a woman. At first, Turpin was not charged due to lack of evidence of a crime.
Investigators then began trying to locate the reported victim, 28 year old Kandace Nicole Adams. She had been reported missing, before remains believed to belong to her were found in Transylvania County, NC.
Turpin is charged with murder and a weapons violation. He's accused of hitting Adams in the head and disposing of her body.
