The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is currently investigating another officer involved shooting in Laurens County.

Thursday morning, October 10, 2024, there was a heavy law enforcement presence in the area of Lakeview Drive and Highway 101 in Gray Court. According to SLED, there was a shooting that involved a Deputy. No other details have been released, except that there is no threat to the public.

Last week, SLED was called in to investigate a separate shooting that also happened in Gray Court. According to a press release, on October 2, 2024 following a pursuit, Laurens County Sheriff's Office Deputies fired on a subject after they backed into a Deputy's cruiser.

All were sent to the hospital, where the subject remains receiving treatment for a gun shot wound. To read the full press release, click HERE.

"The [October 2, 2024] incident in Laurens County was the 34th officer involved shooting in South Carolina in 2024. This is the 2 nd officer involved shooting for the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office this year.
In 2023, there were 43 officer involved shootings in South Carolina. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office had 2 officer involved shootings last year."
