Upstate authorities are once again having to respond to online rumors about a school shooting threat. "Everything is under control, and there is no threat," the words of Williamston Police Chief Tony Taylor on social media posts warning of the possibility of a shooting at Anderson County's Palmetto High School.
A police department Facebook post says they're trying to sort out how the rumor got started, asking anyone who can help with that to contact them by phone or via the tip-line, crime at US.crime@williamstonsc.us. Anderson County District One School one officials also say that although there is no credible threat, extra security is on hand today.
