One dead following hunting accident in the Upstate

An investigation is underway after what has been described by officials as a fatal hunting accident in the Upstate Wednesday night. The South Carolina Department Of Natural Resources says, two people were turkey hunting at the Cliff Pitts Wildlife Management Area in Laurens County around 6 PM, when an accident occurred that left one of the two dead.

Turkey season just opened in the state this past weekend and this marks the 1st fatal hunting incident reported by DNR officials this season. "


As of the time of this report, State DNR officials have not released any further information on the incident.
