One dead in fiery I-85 collision in Anderson County

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports a tractor trailer ran off I-85 near mile marker 28 in Anderson County just after 9AM Tuesday morning.

Corporal Joe Hovis reports the driver of 2010 International tractor trailer ran off the right side of the roadway striking a guard rail, fence and several utility poles.

The tractor trailer came to rest near an RV dealership just off of I-85 southbound about 7 miles north of Anderson.

Hovis said it is not known if the driver was seat belted. The driver was trapped in the cab, had to be mechanically extracted and died at the scene.
