One person is dead and a suspect is in custody after a deadly weekend shooting in the Upstate. The Greenville Police Department responded to the area of Gates Street around 4:45, Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, a man was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The victim has been identified as 30 year old, Quandre Jerome Whitner.
Police say the suspect, Javon Dendy has been taken into custody and is charged with voluntary manslaughter. An autopsy for the victim has been scheduled and the shooting remains under investigation.
