Oconee County investigators say a Seneca woman's car ran a stop sign on Bear Swamp Road at Highway 11 near Walhalla Sunday afternoon triggering a multi-vehicle pileup that killed her and injured several others, one critically.

Troopers say her Toyota Corolla crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a Mercedes station wagon. That collision sent the pickup across the centerline into the path of an Toyota Highlander SUV, knocking it into another vehicle, a Ford Edge SUV.

70 year old Aida Esther Rivera Ramos, the driver of the car troopers say ran the stop sign, died at Oconee Memorial just after 4:00 o'clock, an hour after the accident. The driver of the pickup was airlifted to the hospital. Two others went by ambulance.
