A victim has been identified, and four people have been arrested following Friday night's fatal shooting in the Midlands. The Newberry County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a report of multiple shots fired near the intersection of Holloway and Folk Streets, in Pomaria.
Shortly afterward, additional calls came in reporting a vehicle struck by gunfire nearby. When deputies arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene, while the second was airlifted to an area trauma center.
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece has identified the deceased victim as 19-year-old Tyler L. Austin of Newberry. An autopsy is expected this week to determine the cause of death.
Three 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old have been arrested and charged with murder. They include 17 year old Kaevion Eigner, Dakerian Greenwood, Jayden Gallman and Montieth Brown.
The investigation remains ongoing.
