The Greenville County Election Board admits to a pretty big, “oops.” On Saturday, Director Conway Belangia released a statement, in part saying: a daily mailing of absentee ballots was duplicated by the Elections office. Fifty-four voters were mailed duplicate absentee ballots for the Republican Presidential Preference Primary.”

Voters who received an additional ballot “are NOT to vote the second ballot, mail it, or return it voted.” The statement went on to say that “While this is an unfortunate mistake, it will NOT affect anyone’s vote and a double vote will not be allowed. Anyone with questions can call the Greenville County Absentee office at 864-467-7264. The Republican Presidential Preference Primary will be held this Saturday, February 24th.

February 17, 2024
Recently, a daily mailing of absentee ballots was duplicated by the Greenville County Elections office. Fifty-four voters were mailed duplicate absentee ballots for the Republican Presidential Preference Primary. These voters will have received a second (duplicate) absentee ballot in the mail. These voters are NOT to vote the second ballot, mail it, or return it voted. They should not give the ballot to anyone else for them to cast an absentee ballot that is not authorized. The office will be calling each of the voters with explanation and instructions. As each ballot envelope is returned to the office, it is logged in and if a second ballot is returned by a voter, it will not be processed. While this is an unfortunate mistake, it will NOT affect anyone’s vote and a double vote will not be allowed. If there are any questions, voters are instructed to call the Greenville County Absentee office at 864-467-7264.
