An out of state man is dead after a workplace accident in the Upstate. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says, a truck driver died after being hit, while walking in the parking lot of a terminal in Gaffney. Fowler identified the man as 62 year old, Raymond David Boone of Columbia, Missouri.
Boone drove for UPS Freight and pulled away from the loading dock around 4:45 Friday morning. Fowler says, Boone stopped in his truck and got out while still in the yard of the terminal and as he walked to the passenger side of his truck, he was hit by another worker driving a jockey buggie.
The Coroner's report says, the yard was dark and Boone was not wearing a reflective vest. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the incident remains under OSHA investigation.
