Over 20 pounds of meth seized in Western NC drug bust

Nearly 10 people have been charged and over 20 pounds of meth has been seized as part of an investigation into a drug trafficking ring in Western North Carolina.

In Late May, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office launched investigation into a drug trafficking ring in the Weaverville area. The investigation was prompted after several members of the community called in and made complaints. On June 1st, a search of a home there turned up five pounds of meth, 18 grand in cash and three guns.

About a week later, deputies executed a traffic stop on members of the ring and seized over five grand in cash and nearly a pound of meth. Investigators then were assisted by the Henderson County Sheriff's Office in searching a motel there, that members of the ring were operating out of. The motel search turned up nearly 18 pounds of meth. In total, 9 people were arrested in connection to the investigation and 8 of them face charges for trafficking meth.
